BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
- Mark Teskey asked what enticements were in place to = ensure all committees stick to their budgets.
- Unfortunately, for board members if you do a good jo= b this year you will probably be asked to do it again next year.
- Once the various committee budgets have been approve= d, then if an arising occurs, that committee must go back to the board for approval of the extra funding.
- It is also understood that better automated tracking= of income from all sources is required.
- Alvin Willard announced that Steve Polyblank has acc= epted the offer presented and will be back as the Golf Club Manager for 2010.
- Alvin Willard will talk to Steve Aymott about the Recreation Center proposal.
- Penny Graydon reported that Spencer Jeweler=3Ds sold $3,575.00 worth of NLGC gi= ft certificates prior to Xmas. They still have a number of gift certificates on hand and will continue to sell them all year.
- The furnace at the clubhouse has been cleaned but is= still acting up. It will be looked at next week.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
GREENS
- Brian Flaxey projected the greens budget for 2010 to= be $236,000.00, down from $264,000.00 from last year.
- This includes $45,000.00 for green supplies in suppo= rt of the Greens Revitalization Plan developed by Corey Philips.
- The 2010 projected budget also includes a small incr= ease for the greens supervisor position.
PRO SHOP
- Pro Shop committee is working on the contract for th= e Golf Club Manager.
CLUBHOUSE
- Various options on how the clubhouse should be ran f= or this season were discussed.
- The Clubhouse committee will meet and explore all of= the options and provide the board with a recommendation.
FINANCES
- Ross Latter presented a projected 2010 price list.
- Membership increases monopolized the discussion.
- Given our current financial situation numbers are critical.
- Do we need to offer incentives to attract new member= s?
- How do we get more people on the course?
- The 5 day membership came up but it was felt that 80= % of the membership is that now and offering a discounted 5 day membership would= n=3Dt help the cash flow problem.
- The challenge is to attract new younger members.
- Perhaps we could hold a number of 9 hole tournaments= .
- Green fee club cards were discussed where after payi= ng for 10 green fees the 11th one is free.
- We also explored the monthly green fee passes idea.<= /p>
- Should members get price breaks on cart rentals, ran= ge balls etc?
- The use of a corporate credit card was discussed but= it was pointed out that with our current financial situation it was unlikely t= hat we could get one and redeeming the rewards is not always simple.
- The board members are to review the projected price = list and provide feedback for the next meeting.
TOURNAMENTS
- The 3 man is to return to its proper date.
- The format of the Civic is being reviewed.
- There was a question on who gets the revenue from tournaments.
- If it is a NLGC tournament then NLGC gets all the re= venue.
- If it is a charitable event, then NLGC gets the bar = and cart rental renvenues.
- A better breakdown of all tournament finances is req= uired.
- A 15 passenger van to provide rides for golfers was discussed but there is already an affordable arrangement in place with a lo= cal cab company to get golfers home safely.
ADVERTISING
- We must use all affordable means to aggressively pro= mote the Golf Course.
- The Advertising committee will explore all the optio= ns.

NEW BUSINESS
- Pat Elliot wants to organize a super bowl party at t= he clubhouse. He wants to pre-sell admission tickets and purchase pizza and or chicken for the party. He hopes to get 35 to 40 people and to raffle off a large screen TV. The board agreed that this was a worthwhile endeavor.
Motion to rehire Yvan Rivard with a modest incre= ase in Salary
Moved by Brain Flaxey, seconded by Joe Marsh.
There was a lot of discussion on what did Yvan earn la= st year and what was his Job Description. Brian did not have that info readily available and his motion was tabled.
- Mike Bonnah has approached Al Jamieson with respect = to the Junior lessons and Al has agreed to conduct them again this season. He also asked if Al would be interested in conducting clinics that could be part of= the Friday night socials or perhaps a separate entity.
- We received a letter from Despres Pacey with regards= to insuring our 50 carts, the Pro Shop Committee will respond informing them t= hat we have 31 carts.
- A letter from the Ministry of the environment on Cos= metic Pesticide Ban was given to Brian Flaxey to discuss with Corey Philips.
- There is a Stag and Doe rental request for 13 Februa= ry, 2010.
