CALL TO ORDER

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by the pres= ident Chuck Needham.

 

ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA

ADOPTION OF THE MARCH 22, 2010 MINUTES

 

Motion to accept the March 22, 2010 minutes as corr= ected

 

Moved by Joe Marsh, seconded Darrell Christo.

BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

 

- Green fee passes and monthly passes still need to be ironed out.

- Bird houses are cleaned out each year, Chuck Needham= to send email to Mr Murphy

- Divorce open tournament still looking for a date that works.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

GREENS

- Corey Philips presented a number of mower quotes.

- The plan is to continue with periodic aeration and t= op dressing of the greens this year.

A slicing aerator will be used that will heal in one t= hird of the time.

- Greens will be vented 4 times, twice with hollow core aeration.

- Greens are not growing yet and it is recommended tha= t we stay off them for now.

- Open the Pro Shop 15 April, we could open the greens= then weather permitting.

- Temporary pins to be inserted.

- The maintenance staff require a golf cart to carry out their maintenance.

- The nets are up on the driving range.

 

PRO SHOP

 

- The pro shop is on schedule to open 15 April.

- It is being cleaned out and rearranged.

- New window installed, new counter built and A/C inst= alled in the wall.

- Plan to take advantage of all subsidies for students= .

- Some staff still needed, some of last year=3Ds staff are returning.

- More service is being stressed.

- All staff are to be cross= trained for the clubhouse.

- As many bilingual staff as possible are being hired.=    

 

CLUBHOUSE

 

- Clean up has started today.

- Run with reduced hours and monitor.

- Men=3Ds, good food selection, flexible sign up permitted, $16 meal for men=3Ds night,

$11 meal for ladies night.<= /p>

 

Motion to hire Zante=3Ds as the caterer for the season

- Rental request for November.

- Clubhouse to open 1st of May or sooner if weather dictates.

 

FINANCES

 

- Rick Lavictorie will ass= ist in the transistion and has agreed to hand over the necessary paper work.

- Few memberships in to date.

- Budget won

- The two drivers that were stolen from the Pro Shop l= ast year have been recovered.

 

TOURNAMENTS

 

- Divorce open will be 10th July.

- Conflicts were discussed and dat= es to be worked out for the ladies 3 ball tournament.

- Charity tournament policy not yet decided.

- Civic recommending $120 non members, $100 for member= s.

- Discussion on cart rentals.

- The Maple Leaf Junior Tour (MJT) was brought up and = Mike Bonnah had been talking with

Dave Smallwood on this issue. The bottom line was that the MJT is interested in coming north

but wants a guarantee of 50= or more participants. They would also want to have a two day event

on a weekend which makes sc= heduling an issue.

- Darrell Christo stated t= hat at one time there was a Northern Ontario to= ur but it didnKirkland Lake and Haileybury agreeing to the 2 price

green fee arrangement. Vill= e de Marie has yet to respond.

- Membership cards must be shown.

- Bag tags are being investigated.

NEW BUSINESS

 

- Green fee prices include all applicable taxes. This = may be re-examined next season.

- A number of discounted options were discussed includ= ing green fee packages and twilight fees.

The Pro Shop committee will meet to discuss and present discount options at the next meeting.

- Frog

- The IPM made a profit and will distribute that throu= ghout the community.

- It is not known if NLGC will receive any more of that windfall.

- Te= miskaming Shores sent NLGC an invoice for $800.00 for false alarms. When the bill was

questioned there was no cle= ar answer as to why it was that high. The city is re-examining this issue.

- A discussion over grandfathered carts was held. In particular it dealt with former members who

 were no longer capable of playing a full season but st= ill wanted to keep their carts there for the

occasions that they could golf.

 

Motion to permit non members to store existing grandfathered carts on the golf course
