The meeting was called to order at 6:32 PM by the president Chuck Needham.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

GREENS

 

- Soil samples analysis showed that fertilizer being used took too long to break down into food.


- New fertility program to use fertilizers with micro-nutrients to maximize plant food availability.

- Plan to hit greens with everything we got this year.

- Irrigation water samples were taken today for analysis.

- Tee decks to be aerated and top dressed.

- Course overall in good shape, some small details still need to be addressed.

- Ordering top dressing sand from local supplier saves $35.00 per ton.

- Corey to apply as IPM.

- Heritage Fungacide was purchased but not required.

- Penway combination grass seed was $8.00 Ib cheaper than T 1 bent grass used last year.

- Greens crew working well together.

- Back 9 two weeks behind due to lack of drainage.

- Flow meter to be installed on irrigation well to monitor water usage.

- Utility vehicle needed to allow for multi-tasking.

- Duke Equipment possible source for utility vehicle.

- Current lease agreements to be reviewed

 

PRO SHOP

 

- New computer required for handicap system.

- Photo copier needs to be repaired/replaced.

- Vacuum cleaner needs to be replaced.

- Going to run Father=s Day special again this year.

 

CLUBHOUSE

 

- The major cleaning of the clubhouse has been completed (basement excepted - started on Monday), with the Timiskaming Health Unit inspection scheduled for Tuesday.

- The upstairs area is in pristine condition with minor scheduled improvements to be completed over the next week in preparation of the Men=s Two-Man tournament.

- The P.C.O. representative inspected the clubhouse and we have a pest problem.

- A six month contract was agreed to @ $34.00 per month to deal with the pest problem.

- A stainless steel counter top for food preparation was ordered from N.L. Sheet Metal at a cost of $400.00.

- Ice Machine was sent to Jim Semple for repair.

- Dishwasher needs to be repaired (Steve has spoken with the service rep).

- Coffee machine is leaking and needs to be addressed.

- Freezer in basement is full and we should be able to salvage most of it.

- May 23 will be open house to showcase some of the new items that will be available this year.

- New format has the staff excited and we hope to bring that enthusiasm to the members and create a fun place to be after a round of golf.

 

FINANCES

 

- Membership down $43,000.00 from last year at this time.

 


TOURNAMENTS

 

- Currently there are 68 teams signed up for the two man.

- Cubs tournament originally set for the 18 July will now move to the 4 July.

- Passes to the Civic could be prizes for two man.

 

ADVERTISING

 

- CJTT,  tee to green and two man tournament

 

MEMBERSHIP

 

- Currently we have 200 members.

- 16 new members.

- It was agreed to offer a $100.00 range membership to those members over 70.

NEW BUSINESS

 

- Kathy Denomme demonstrated the new yardage numbers for the signs.

- Penny Graydon thanked the volunteers that worked on the clubhouse floor, the deck, the benches and flower boxes.

- Garden areas are also planned for beside the clubhouse, between #1 and #9 and between #10 and #11. Railway ties can be used to border the garden areas.

- Volunteers are also being organized to act as starters and marshals when required.

- Thanks to Jim Graydon for the new Canadian flag.

- Newsletter in June to include President=s letter and updates from the various committees.

- Quote for the eaves trough repairs was $1180.00 from Belanger, second quote tomorrow.

- Steve given authority to choose best quote and contract the repairs.

- It was decided that the scoreboard was not worth saving and will be torn down.

- New scoreboard to be located on back of Pro Shop.

- There were discussions with respect to our tax bill and what could be done to make it more equitable. It was decided to wait for our end of month financial report before proceeding.

- A new logo for our club was chosen from the samples supplied by Alf O=Reilly.
