1. Meeting called to order 6:57 PM
2. Additions to the agenda: None
3. Adoption of the June Minutes
a. Moved by J Marsh, seconded by M McArthur. CARRIED
4. Business arising from the minutes
a. Ice machine in kitchen has been fixed.
b. Club championship post-poned until Aug 23-24 because of course conditions.
c. Greens crew wages up $2800.00
d. Dishwasher is now installed. Track wages and time to see if it is creating any dollar and savings
e. Minutes on website, looking good.
i. Motin by J Marsh, seconded by M Bonnah those minutes be e-mailed to M Bonnah and then posted. CARRIED
Reports:
Greens
- Cutting grass non-stop.
- Over-seeding is working, needs to continue and again when the greens are put to bed in the fall.
- Goal is not to have to sod the bad spots. ( 2 weeks to be healthy and 1 year before they are playable)
- Course must be put to bed properly in the fall.
- Joe questioned if he had spoken to anyone regarding the problem. No
- Billy wants to apply an ice protector in the fall (tarps are $3000.00 + per green)
- Alvin asked if soil samples had been done. No, Billy will have it done from 4 or 5 greens
- Fertilizer prices have risen twice in price
- Bunkers are using a lot of man hours to keep free of water due to weather.
- Alvin questioned that rough is long and do we need part-time help to keep up.
- Look at budget and make all cuts possible. (fuel, fertlizer)
- Send staff home on rainy days.
Clubhouse
- After letter to C Durrant he started to do better but Steve has thrown out over $500.00 of spoiled food.
- Dishwasher is in place.
- Chuck is buying pre-cooked foods that are twice as expensive as buying fresh from Chartrands
- Although better than last year he should be told that he will not be returning next season. If he wants a good recommendation his performance must improve.
- Create a job to do list
- George will talk to Chuck
- George asked to do deserts for ladies nite
- October 4, 2008. 6:00 PM - ? Clubhouse rental. Drinks and meal ( closed to the members)

Finance
- Well water application fee coming in $3000.00 for irrigation
- Proshop up $10,000.00
- One employee to open up
- Refund membership to the estate of L Menard
- Property taxes owe $11,000.00, holding off paying as town is looking into problem
Tournaments
- Smitty’s tournament 155 golfers
- Civic down in numbers
- Junior club championship. Executive felt T Dupuis at 14 was too young to play in the Civic. Letter for free entry to Civic when he is of age.
- Haileybury Junior champion in as well
Motion by A Willard, seconded by M Bonnah that minimum age for a junior to play in any adult tournament be 17. CARRIED
- Any other junior must submit a written request to the executive for approval to play in any adult tournament if it is not full.
Advertising
- Monday and Wednesday on CJTT
- M McArthur bought an ad in the visitor’s guide for the plowing match in 2009. $98.00

- Beer cart on weekends from 10:00 to 4:00. Moved by A Willard, seconded by J Marsh CARRIED
- ON/OFF Duty sign, put on calender sign for driving range closure for clean picks
- Hole sign, only one up. Each member to split list and get sponsors. 2.5 years for $300.00 ( .5 year for free)
- A Jamieson wants to be paid for junior lessons.
Moved by M Bonnah, seconded by G Beasley that Al be paid $200.00 from the junior golf account for helping with junior lessons. Send a thank you card and cheque at end of season.
