Clubhouse
- As of now we are about $14,500 down, however with the tournaments coming up we should break even at years end.
- Motion by George Beasley, seconded by Mike McArthur to have a closed session to discuss personnel issues.

Finance
- As of July 31, 2008 revenue is down $50,000.00
- Green fees and membership fees are both down.
- Cost of greens is about the same as last year.
- In total we estimate a shortfall of $70,000.00 in income.
- However our expenses are estimated at a $40,000 savings.
- It appears the club will have to borrow from the bank for the winter months.
Tournaments
- Sue is looking after the 3 Lady Tournament.
- Mike McArthur is looking after the 3 Man.
- $180.00 per team, 60 teams.
- 10:00 shotgun start, roast beef dinner
- A Willard looked after the Civic and reported the numbers were down this year
- He also was asking if we could charge a different rate for non-members to enter the civic.
- Maybe the civic format can be changed to a scramble after next year to attract more participants.
- Is the Civic too close to the Smitty’s.
- A committee will have to be set up for the 40th Civic tournament next year.
Advertising
- The plan is to distribute flyers to all surrounding courses listing all of our tournament dates.
Planning
- Mission statement. “To provide a first class golfing experience at an affordable price and to grow the game of golf in our community”.
- All suggested improvements to be prioritized under following categories;
i. Must have to operate.
ii. Nice to have.
iii. Increase playability and/or maintainability.
iv. Beautifying the course/enhancing its appeal.
v. In house expertise or outside contractors.
vi. Cost.
- Current list of suggested/required projects includes;
i. Reliable source of potable water.
ii. Drainage system for the back nine.
iii. A green nursery.
iv. Tree planting.
v. Pump station replacement.
vi. A greens blower.
vii. Main road and parking lot repairs.
viii. McArthurs lake between 13 and 16
ix. Cart paths.
- This is not a complete list but a sample of what is being considered. Any member can submit their suggestions via suggestion box or by passing them on directly to M Bonnah. No suggestion too small and all will be considered for implementation.
- M Bonnah also suggested that the membership choose a replacement carpet for the clubhouse at the next annual general meeting. He stated that 70 % of the cost of the carpet could be borne by the membership as a one time only surcharge equal to that amount divided by the membership. The remaining 30 % would be picked up through green fees etc.
Memberships
- There is a one time offer to Ville de Marie members as follows;
i. $150.00 for associate membership for the remainder of this year.
ii. $100.00 cart rental for the remainder of this year.
- This is a one time deal in an effort to increase cash flow..
New Business
- Board agreed that 4 hours 15 minutes was good for playing a round in a tournament.
- Board decided to invite Steve Chenier to the next monthly meeting to present his suggestions.
- Board would also like to re-iterate that all members are welcome to attend any of the board meetings that are held on the third Monday of the month in the Chamber of Commerce building at 7:00 PM.
- R Beauchamp stated that work needs to be done on the entrance to the Golf Course and the clubhouse to make them more inviting to our members and guests.
- B Flaxey wanted clarification on why Ray Paridy is not allowed to play in tournaments.
- M McArthur explained that this was researched in the past and the ruling from the RCGA stated that as long as he accepts remuneration for lessons, he is ineligible.
- M Bonnah had a question about the tradition of charging members of the Kirkland Lake Golf Course half price for green fees. This matter will have to be re-visited.
Closed Session
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM and the next meeting is scheduled for September 18, 2008.
